R.C.I.A. for children

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults ...for children

Holy Family Parish offers a special sacrament preparation program for children who are past the typical age for receiving their Sacraments of Initiation and the Sacrament of First Penance.  In general, the classes are designed for children in grades 3-5 and grades 6-8, with specific adaptations made to accommodate the various age groupings.  The program also offers opportunities for the catechumens and candidates to experience the beautiful mosaic of traditional Catholic Christian spirituality through adoration of the Eucharist and prayers.

The R.C.I.A. program covers preparation for the reception of Baptism (if required), First Holy Communion, and First Penance, as well as Confirmation.  Candidates and Catechumens are welcomed into full communion with the Catholic Church at the Saturday evening Easter Vigil Mass each year.  Although the children receive all the above mentioned sacraments at the same time, it would be expected that they would continue to attend Faith Formation classes with their peers through the 10th grade year in order to provide the best possible foundation for their lives as adult Catholic Christians and will be given a special role in the Confirmation of their peers in the Fall of grade 11.

If you are interested in learning more about how to sign your children up for the program, please contact Jeanne Cregan, the Director of Faith Formation, at 781-934-5055, ext. 114 or jcregan@holyfamilyduxbury.org.
