We had a wonderful opening celebration for our 75th Anniversary as a parish last Saturday. The two photos on the cover of this bulletin gives you a glimpse of the evening's activities. The Episcopal Vicar of the South Region of the Archdiocese of Boston, Father Bob Connors presided at our Opening Mass. He provided a thoughtful homily linking the feast of the Epiphany and the great heritage of our parish, which is a product of the many gifts, talents and sacrifices offered over the years by clergy and laity alike. Some people seemed to be confused by the use of the word - Episcopal in Father Connor's title, thinking he came from another denomination! However, that's not the case. The word refers to the position he holds in place of the ordinary regional vicar who is usually a bishop (Episkopos in Greek), most recently held by now-retired Bishop John Dooher.
After the Mass, we had a fun-filled Epiphany Party, which brought together parishioners of all ages who enjoyed a simple meal, drinks, make-your-own sundaes, trivia and "Singo" – a musical variation of Bingo. Special thanks go out to our 75th Anniversary Committee chairperson, Jen Castricone, and the many committee members and parishioners who helped make the celebration so successful, including generous in-kind donors who helped defray some of the costs. We look forward to more wonderful anniversary year events coming up including the 75th Gala at Indian Pond Country Club on Sat, May 9 at 6:30pm with dinner, dancing, silent auction, and music provided by The Waves. On a more sober note, in this time of anxiety over world affairs that threaten our peace and security, Holy Family will offer a special Mass for World Peace this Tuesday evening, January 14 at 7:00 pm in the main church. Gather with others in our community to pray that peace may reign and that God will protect our country and all people of the world from the scourges of war, terrorism and all forms of aggression. Please spread the word about this special Mass to invoke God's blessing upon us in this time of need. In addition, I encourage families to pray together daily (especially the Rosary) for this intention.
God bless you!
