Becoming Catholic – The OCIA Journey
Are you feeling called to explore the Catholic faith? Whether you're unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or a Catholic seeking full sacramental initiation—you are welcome here.
At Holy Family Parish, we offer a supportive and prayerful process called the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), formerly known as RCIA. It’s not a class, but a journey of discovery, community, and deepening relationship with God.
Who Can Begin?
- Unbaptized adults and children (age 7+)
- Christians baptized in another tradition
- Baptized Catholics who haven’t received First Communion or Confirmation
No matter where you're starting from, all that's needed is a sincere desire to grow in faith.
What to Expect
The OCIA process unfolds in four key phases, each marked by reflection, learning, and beautiful rituals:
- Inquiry – A no-pressure time to ask questions and explore.
- Catechumenate – Learning about the Catholic faith with the support of parish mentors.
- Preparation for the Sacraments – A deeper spiritual journey during Lent.
- Mystagogy – Living the Catholic life after receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.
You’re Not Alone
Each participant is supported by a sponsor, a dedicated OCIA team, and the whole parish community. We're here to walk with you every step of the way.
